BEING HUMAN

Being Human is portrait project that seeks to explore what it feels like to be alive in the world today, focusing not on the mask that we put one as we leave the house in the morning, but the version of ourselves that is left as the day comes to a close.

My simple aim is to provide a moving account of the human experience in the modern age. To show that although we are different in so many ways, there is much we also share. And just maybe, it will help us realise that this strange and meandering path that we walk though the world is not a path we walk alone.

Firstly, I’d like to thank your curiosity for taking the time to come this far. If you have found this page, it is because I noticed an authenticity about you that I think would make the most wonderful addition to the project. I hope you agree.

To get a sense of the overall tone, do please play the music in the browser below and click through the images. In all, I hope to photograph around 100 subjects, possibly more. People from every walk of life.

Practically, the photography takes 20 or so minutes at my studio in St Mary Bourne, with the only stipulation being that you drop by on your way home from whatever it was you were doing that day.

If this sounds interesting, I'd love to hear from you and I much look forward to meeting you properly.

With best wishes, Robert
